The name does real work here. A meme coin needs people to share it, and a coin called Fartcoin gets shared, laughed at and argued about in a way a serious-sounding token never would. The idea came from Truth Terminal, an experimental AI agent created by researcher Andy Ayrey. In conversations he published in 2024, the bot riffed that the perfect meme coin would be called Fartcoin and would live on Solana. An anonymous developer took the suggestion literally and launched FARTCOIN on pump.fun on October 18, 2024.<\/p>\n

What followed was one of the steepest runs of that meme season. From a launch price of a couple of cents, the coin reached about $2.48 on January 19, 2025, and its market value passed $2 billion. Then the cycle turned. At the time of writing (early October 2026), FARTCOIN trades at roughly $0.18, around 93% below that peak.<\/p>\n

Put in money terms: $300 of savings spent at the top would be worth about $22 today. The story is a good reminder that meme coins can rise and fall by 90% or more, and that neither direction is a forecast.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
