When a trend becomes a ticker

Chill Guy coin (CHILLGUY) is a Solana meme token launched in November 2024 on the back of the “just a chill guy” cartoon dog that was everywhere on TikTok; Moo Deng (MOODENG) appeared two months earlier, named after a baby pygmy hippo from a Thai zoo. Both went from launch to hundreds of millions in market value within days, and both have since given back much of it. That rise-and-fade rhythm is exactly what you can trade, long and short, on a challenge account, without buying the hype with your own money.

What is Chill Guy coin (CHILLGUY)?

The character came first. In October 2023 the artist Phillip Banks shared a drawing of a relaxed cartoon dog in a grey sweater, jeans and red sneakers, hands in pockets. By late 2024 it had become one of the most used images online, captioned “I’m just a chill guy” under every story of staying calm when you should not be.

On November 15, 2024 someone launched CHILLGUY on pump.fun, the Solana launchpad where anyone can mint a token in a few clicks. Within days its value went from about $10 million to around half a billion. The artist did not create it and did not approve it: Banks registered the copyright and said he would issue takedowns against for-profit uses of the character. The coin kept trading anyway, which tells you how little a meme coin depends on the people behind the meme.

Moo Deng (MOODENG): the hippo that got a token

Moo Deng is a female pygmy hippo born in July 2024 at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand. Her name means “bouncy pork”, and clips of her squirming and splashing drew millions of views in a few weeks.

The MOODENG token followed in September 2024, again through pump.fun on Solana. Two weeks after launch it had passed $70 million in value, and by the end of that month it was above $300 million. The zoo has nothing to do with it; the coin simply borrowed the most-watched animal on the internet.

From viral post to coin in days: the usual lifecycle

CHILLGUY and MOODENG followed a path that most viral-meme coins share. Recognizing the stage a coin is in matters more than knowing its backstory.

  1. The trend: a picture or clip spreads on TikTok and X, and nobody in crypto owns it.
  2. The launch: within hours, several tokens with the same name appear on a launchpad. One wins the attention and the rest die.
  3. The run: early buyers post their gains, exchanges list the winner, and the price goes nearly vertical.
  4. The fade: the trend gets old, early holders sell into every bounce, and price drifts lower with sharp relief rallies along the way.
Concept candlestick chart of a viral meme coin: flat start, near-vertical run after launch and listings, peak, then a long fade with relief bounces
A concept chart, not real data: the fade usually lasts far longer than the run.

By the time most people hear about a viral coin, it is late in stage three. That is the worst moment to buy with savings, and one of the most interesting moments to trade with a fixed, small risk.

Why viral meme coins fade

A trend is attention, and attention has a half-life. The chill guy dog and Moo Deng are still loved, but the coin needs new buyers every day, and new buyers come only while the trend is new.

  • No owner of the story: neither the artist nor the zoo has any reason to support the price, and one of them openly objected.
  • Early supply: people who bought in the first hours hold large bags at tiny cost basis, and every rally gives them a chance to sell.
  • Rotation: the next viral animal or cartoon arrives, and the meme crowd moves its money there.

None of this means the price only goes down. Fading coins can double in a weekend when the sector wakes up. At the time of writing (early October 2026), CHILLGUY traded around $0.013, far below its November 2024 peak, and MOODENG around $0.05. Those levels can change a lot before you read this; check the live charts.

Trading the swings instead of buying the hype

Buying a viral coin with your own money is a bet on stage three lasting. Trading it on a challenge account is different: you can take the relief rally long, take the fade short, and your worst case is the fee you paid, not your savings. Both coins are on Fundex24 as CHILLGUY/USDT and MOODENG/USDT.

A worked example on $3,000

MOODENG rallies 30% in a few hours on sector news and starts printing long upper wicks. You decide to short the exhaustion with $400, stop 12% above entry. If the stop is hit you lose about $48, roughly a third of the $150 daily loss limit. If the rally unwinds by 25%, you make $100.

That $100 counts toward the $300 Step 1 target, because it stays under $180. A single trade making 60% or more of the stage target is left out, so a $900 short catching the same move would earn $225 that does not count. And if you close a winner within five minutes, that profit is not counted either; viral spikes tempt quick scalps, but they add nothing to your progress.

Four rules of thumb for trading viral meme coins like CHILLGUY and MOODENG on a 3,000 dollar challenge account
Small, held, both directions: the shape of trades that survive viral coins.

The reverse trade works the same way. If CHILLGUY has faded for weeks and breaks above a level it failed at several times, a $300 long with a 10% stop risks $30 and makes $90 on a 30% bounce. Our guide to trading meme coins in both directions goes deeper into picking the side.

Your first viral-coin plan: $0 first, then $29

Start where it costs nothing. Sign up and open the free practice account, $10,000 of virtual balance with leverage up to 1:10 for 3 days. Try one fade short and one breakout long on CHILLGUY or MOODENG and write down where your stop actually filled.

Then, if you want the real test, the $3,000 challenge costs $29 or $26.10 with PROPOFF10, and our guide to trading crypto without capital compares it with the other routes honestly. You need 10% in Step 1 and 8% in Step 2, with at least 5 valid trading days each, without touching the 5% daily or 10% maximum loss. Pass both and you can request a funded account, a simulated account with an 80% profit split. Most people fail at least once; budget for that.

Risk note: viral meme coins can lose most of their value and move against you in minutes. Nothing here is a price prediction or a promise that you will earn anything.

Questions about Chill Guy and Moo Deng coins

Is Chill Guy coin official?

No. CHILLGUY was launched by anonymous users on pump.fun, and the artist who drew the character did not authorize it.

Is the Moo Deng coin connected to the zoo?

No. MOODENG borrows the hippo’s name and fame; Khao Kheow Open Zoo has no role in the token.

Can I short CHILLGUY or MOODENG?

Yes. Both are available long and short on Fundex24 challenge and funded accounts, with the same rules as every other market.

Will Chill Guy or Moo Deng come back?

Nobody knows. A fading coin can still rally hard on sector news, which is why trading defined swings with a stop makes more sense than holding and hoping.

How small should my first viral-coin trade be?

Small enough that a 30% move against you stays well inside the $150 daily limit of a $3,000 account. In practice that means a few hundred dollars of position size, not thousands.
