After the target
Reaching the profit target feels like the finish line, which is exactly why so many traders lose funded accounts right after it. The target is one condition among several, and the rules that matter most after it are the ones traders read least: trading-day minimums, the request to move up, the funded account’s extra limits and the checks at payout time. This guide walks through where accounts are lost after the target, and the habits that keep a passed account alive.
Why do traders lose funded accounts after the target?
There are two kinds of loss after the target. The first is technical: a condition other than the target was not met, so the stage was never really passed. The second is behavioural: the trader passed, then traded differently, with bigger size, less patience and less attention to rules that only apply later. Both are avoidable, and most of the fixes cost nothing but a pause at the right moment.
The structure at Fundex24 makes the conditions easy to list. The challenge has two stages, a 10% target and then 8%, each with at least 5 trading days, and the daily and maximum drawdown rules are the same in both stages and on the funded account. If the evaluation itself is new to you, start with what a prop firm challenge is.
Target reached, stage not passed
The most common surprise is the trading-day minimum. A day counts only if you open and close a position with a profit or loss of at least 0.25% of the initial balance, which is $25 on a $10,000 account. A trader who hits the 10% target on day three still needs two more trading days, and those extra days are where profit gets given back, because the trader feels they have to trade rather than wanting to. The fix is to plan the remaining days in advance with small, deliberate trades that just clear the 0.25% threshold.
The second surprise is the single-position rule. If one position earns 60% or more of the current stage profit target, that profit remains in your account but is excluded from challenge progress, so a balance can show the target while progress does not. The third is paperwork: completing stage 2 and receiving the funded account are not automatic. You request the upgrade by ticket within 10 calendar days of completing stage 2, with no open positions or pending orders, and then complete KYC.

There are clocks too. The first trade has to be placed within 30 days of purchase and within 30 days of entering stage 2, and a challenge with no trades for 30 days is void. None of these is hard to meet, but each is easy to miss if you treat the target as the end of the job.

The give-back: trading on after the target
Once the target is in the account, the pressure changes shape. Some traders keep trading to use the buffer, some raise size because the extra money feels free, and some leave a winning position open to squeeze out more. The drawdown rules don’t relax when you pass, and balance and equity are both monitored, so an open position that turns can undo a week’s work in an afternoon. Extra profit beyond the target doesn’t pass the stage any faster.
The simplest rule is also the most effective: when the target and the trading days are both done, close everything, stop, and move on to the next step. Closing is required for the upgrade request anyway. If the days are not done yet, keep risk per trade at the level that got you to the target, or lower; see how much to risk per trade.
New rules on the funded account
The funded account keeps the same drawdown limits: 5% of the day’s starting balance per day and 10% of the initial balance overall. It adds one rule that did not exist in the evaluation: the combined risk of all open positions must stay within 3% of the day’s starting balance, or that day’s profit is not counted. Traders who stack positions the way they did in the challenge can find that their best day doesn’t count.

Two more rules cause quiet losses. A funded account with no trades for more than 30 calendar days is deactivated, so a trader who takes a long break after passing can lose the account without a single losing trade. And only the person who completed KYC may trade the account; if a third party is found to have used it, the account is blocked. Handing a passed account to someone else, or to a service, is a fast way to lose it.
Payout checks and how to keep the account
Breaches cost more on the funded account, because if the drawdown rules are violated the account expires and previous profits are no longer withdrawable. Profit can stay in the account for up to 365 days, but profit that stays is profit at risk. Many traders withdraw on the regular dates, the 12th and the 28th, as soon as they are eligible, rather than letting a balance build.
The first payout needs at least 30 days since the first funded trade, at least 5 trading days, no open positions and no rule violations. Prohibited behaviour found at withdrawal can cost the profit payment itself, even if it happened back in the evaluation, which is why the rules are worth reading before you buy rather than after you pass; see what to check before buying a challenge and how prop firm payouts work. The full conditions are on the rules page, the plans are on the challenges page, and questions about the upgrade can go to the challenge support team.
Frequently asked questions
Why didn’t I pass when my balance shows the profit target?
Check the other conditions: at least 5 trading days in the stage, and whether one position earned 60% or more of the stage target, which leaves that profit out of your progress.
Pick a challenge and start trading
Two-step evaluation, transparent rules, profit split up to 80%.

Is the funded account created automatically after stage 2?
No. Within 10 calendar days of completing stage 2, send an upgrade ticket with nothing open or pending, then complete KYC. The funded account is active within 24 hours.
Can I keep trading after reaching the target?
You can, but the same drawdown limits still apply and extra profit won’t pass the stage sooner. Once the target and the trading days are done, the safer habit is to close everything and move on.
What happens to my profit if I break a rule on the funded account?
A drawdown breach ends the account, and any profit you have not withdrawn can no longer be paid out. Withdrawing on the regular dates keeps less at risk.
Can a funded account be lost without a losing trade?
Yes. More than 30 calendar days without a trade deactivates it, and use by anyone other than the verified trader gets it blocked.
